Energy Efficiency & Renewable
Technologies Lead
Malik Taha – B.Sc., CEM, LEED GA
Malik Taha believes every building has a story—and that the best chapters are written in kilowatts saved and emissions avoided. A Certified Energy Manager and LEED Green Associate with 14 years of international practice, Malik has audited hospitals, schools, factories, and public facilities from Syria to Southwestern Ontario, translating complex utility data into clear, actionable paths toward net-zero performance. His engineering journey began with a Bachelor of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at the University of Aleppo, was sharpened by Conestoga College’s Renewable Energy Techniques certificate, and continues today through hands-on mastery of solar architecture and geo-exchange systems.
As founder of Project Sustainable Solutions and technical lead for Bipvloft Solar Architecture in the MENA region, Malik marries cutting-edge photovoltaic design with pragmatic business models that unlock clean-energy access in underserved markets—perfectly echoing USNN’s mission of environment-first capacity building. Earlier roles with VIP Energy Services and Green Orbits International saw him orchestrate conservation programs that slashed operating costs while nurturing a culture of stewardship among facility managers and front-line staff. Fluent in Arabic and English, he is equally at home negotiating with municipal planners or guiding community volunteers through an on-site lighting retrofit.
At USNN, Malik serves as our resident Energy-Efficiency Storyteller: he translates the language of amps and BTUs into inspiring narratives that empower Indigenous communities and youth to see renewable power not as an abstraction, but as an attainable way of life. When he isn’t sketching solar arrays or crunching eQuest simulations, Malik unwinds by reading about cosmology and black holes—reminding us that the quest to understand energy, in all its forms, is as boundless as the universe itself.
